Impact is a very important part of research proposal. Impact is not how much better performance your advanced materials concept will give. Nobody from society will get the point.

But if you describe that you are developing a new potential technology that could save energy, then they will start to listen. After that you describe that the way to reach the energy saving technology is by developing this material concept.

It may seem to be small difference. But since funding is very competitive, then that small difference will be the one which will influence which project proposal will be selected.

At this forum we discuss the impact from research, and include the aspect of impact for research to business.
